We are the Houston IWW.
This is who we are, what we do, and why we do it:
We are a union that organizes ALL the workers of our community, knowing that none of us are free until all of us are free.
We believe that "The working class and the employing class have nothing in common." and therefore all our history is the history of class struggle. It is all of us versus the bosses … WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?
We organize ourselves into ONE BIG UNION to prepare “...to carry on production when capitalism shall have been overthrown. By organizing industrially we are forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old.”
We make our union a safe, welcoming, and equitable environment for all members and prospective members alike.
We achieve this environment by nurturing a vital union democracy reflecting the demographics of the Greater Houston Area with clear codes of conduct, means to address grievances, and a focus on building the leadership of all our members.
We know that “It is the historic mission of the working class to do away with capitalism.”
We work to fulfill that mission by educating our members, prospective members, and the community; creating an educated, class-conscious and militant working class that stands ready to support their fellow workers with DIRECT ACTION because –
AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL!
